Arizona voters expressed their commitment to early care and education through the passage of Proposition 203. The proposition known as First Things First gives tribal governments the opportunity as to how they want to take advantage of the funds that are available to help children birth to five within their tribal communities.
Our focus is to ensure the quality and accessibility of early childhood development and health programs by:

• Developing and implementing strategies to inform AZ Tribal governments and communities of the opportunities available under First Things First;
• Understanding and improving the quality, coordination and accessibility of early childhood and health programs within tribal communities; and
• Supporting the work of tribal Regional Partnership Councils.

Our first document was the Frequently Asked Questions designed for tribal communities. Other documents and meetings will be posted shortly.

Please contact Katie Stevens, Senior Policy Specialist, for further information about tribal affairs.
